Recent years have seen considerable expansion of the medical oncology and haematology services at BSCCC.
We provide comprehensive cancer care though our three medical oncology consultants, two haematology consultants and radiation oncology consultant.
The Medical Oncology Department administers a full range of services including the following:
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Hormone Therapy
- Clinical Trials
- Palliative Care
The Oncology department is supported by highly trained junior doctors, experienced nursing staff (including liaison nurses, research nurses, palliative care nurse specialist, and skilled chemotherapy nurses) and an extended multidisciplinary team who provide complete care for patients. The Oncology department treats a broad range of solid tumours and haematologic (blood) cancers. Bon Secours Cork Cancer Centre (BSCCC) has been accredited by the European Society of Medical Oncology as a designated centre of oncology and palliative care since 2011.
The Haematology Service is provided by a team of two consultant haematologists, senior laboratory medical scientists, junior doctors, haematology oncology nurses (including liaison nurses) and pharmacists.
They are supported by the phlebotomy, physiotherapy, quality & risk and occupational departments. There is also support from the multidisciplinary team and from the medical, radiology, surgical, anaesthetic and laboratory consultants and their teams.
